Are there bees living in your home?

Bees may be seen flying in and out of a small opening. The colony is often found in a cavity within the structure. Inside are combs of honey, pollen, and brood (baby bees).

How are the bees removed?

Opening the structure to expose the colony is often the best course of action. I then transfer the entire colony to bee boxes, clean the cavity, mask the scent, and cover the opening so that the bees can no longer enter.

Where do I take the bees?

To an apiary where the bees can fly in peace.

How much does it cost?

Cost depends on how long the colony has been established and the difficulty of access.

  • Recently established colonies $250 - $400

  • Difficult or large extractions: $500 - $1000

**Removal cost is determined after inspection. If the extraction is more difficult than expected, additional labor or material costs may apply.

**Final repair such as patching and painting are not included in the quote. These services can be provided for an additional hourly rate.

Can I just spray the bees?

Killing honey bees is highly discouraged as they are important pollinators. Sadly, many people spray bees with insecticide. You may kill a few bees but the queen and the majority of the colony may still survive. If the colony is killed, the smell of the beeswax combs left behind will often attract another swarm in the future.

Do I have to get the bees removed?

Absolutely not! If you can live with the bees that is the best solution. However, waiting to remove a bee colony increases the cost of removal and increases stress on the colony.
